Blueprint’s best Megaways game, and the numbers say why: 96.03%, 117,649 ways, an unlimited progressive multiplier in free spins and a 50,000× ceiling.
Read that ceiling carefully, though. The game also states a hard cap of £250,000, and the two work together: 50,000× is only reachable at a £5 stake or below. Play at £20 and your real ceiling is 12,500×. Almost nothing written about this game mentions it.

Play the Ted Megaways demo free
The demo below runs the full game on play credits. The Thunder Buddies round is what to watch — the multiplier never resets and the Ted meter keeps adding spins, so a good round builds in two directions at once and that compounding is hard to appreciate from a description. This demo is part of our collection of free Blueprint Gaming demos.
Ted Megaways slot at a glance
More on the figures above. Figures from the game’s own information screen, cross-checked against SlotCatalog. The 50,000× and the £250,000 cap are both real and they interact, which most listings miss: a multiplier of 50,000 only pays out in full on stakes of £5 or less, because above that the money cap bites first. The game is a licensed-IP title based on the 2012 film, which is why availability differs sharply by market. No hit frequency is published. Blueprint states the bonus can be bought in some markets but not in the UK, where feature buys are prohibited.
How the game plays
Six reels showing two to seven symbols each, plus a horizontal top reel running above them — the standard Megaways arrangement licensed from Big Time Gaming’s Bonanza. Reel heights are redrawn every spin, so the number of ways changes constantly, up to 117,649.
Winning symbols are removed and replaced from above — the cascade — and chains continue while new wins form.
Mystery symbols appear in the base game, delivered by Ted’s ray gun, and transform into matching symbols when they land.
The bonus is Thunder Buddies Free Spins, triggered by four scatters for 12 spins. Two things run inside it. The win multiplier is unlimited and progressive — it rises with each cascade and does not reset between spins. And a Ted symbol meter fills as you collect them, adding spins and raising the minimum number of Megaways the board will show.
That second mechanic is the clever one. Raising the minimum Megaways means the board stops being allowed to go small, so the back half of a long round plays on a consistently wide grid with a high multiplier attached.
The story behind the game
Released 30 July 2020, four years after Bonanza established the mechanic.
It is a licensed-IP title based on the 2012 film, which is the single biggest practical fact about it: availability differs sharply by market, and the game appears in some lobbies and not others for reasons that have nothing to do with the slot itself.
Within Blueprint’s own Megaways range it sits at the top. Wolf Legend Megaways (96.21%, 2019) and Mighty Griffin Megaways (95.46%) are the other two reviewed here, and all three share the same 50,000×-capped-at-£250,000 structure. Ted is the one with the best bonus design.
Blueprint has since built an entire sub-industry out of Megaways rebuilds of its own catalogue — there are Megaways editions of Cop the Lot, Fishin’ Frenzy and most of the pub range. Ted remains the most interesting of them.
Symbols and paytable
Blueprint publishes the full values on the in-game information screen. What follows is what changes how a round resolves.
| The variable reel heights | Two to seven symbols per reel, redrawn every spin, plus the horizontal top reel. Seven on all six gives 117,649 ways; a low draw gives a few hundred. The ways count is a property of the spin. |
|---|---|
| Mystery symbols — Ted’s ray gun | Land in the base game and transform into matching symbols. They are the main reason the base game has anything to watch at all. |
| The scatter — four for 12 spins | A four-scatter trigger is demanding; most Megaways games open at three. The compensation is a 12-spin round rather than the usual 10. |
| The Ted meter — raises the minimum Megaways | Collected Ted symbols add free spins and lift the minimum number of ways the board can show. The board is progressively forbidden from going small, which is a smarter reward than simply adding spins. |
The two bonus mechanics pull in the same direction. The multiplier makes later spins worth more; the meter makes later spins wider. A long Thunder Buddies round is therefore worth disproportionately more at its end than its start — which is exactly what you want from a Megaways bonus and more than most of them deliver.
Bonus features and free spins
117,649 Megaways
Six reels of two to seven symbols plus the horizontal top reel, redrawn every spin. The full Big Time Gaming mechanic under licence.
Cascading reels
Winning symbols are removed and replaced from above, chaining while new wins form. In the base game these are free extra chances; in free spins each link raises the multiplier.
Thunder Buddies — 12 spins, unlimited multiplier
Four scatters award 12 free spins. The win multiplier is progressive and uncapped, rising with each cascade and never resetting between spins. This is the Bonanza mechanic in its full form.
The Ted meter raises the minimum Megaways
Collecting Ted symbols adds spins and lifts the floor on how few ways the board may show. The reels stop being allowed to run short, so the end of a long round plays on a reliably wide grid.
Mystery symbols
Delivered by Ted’s ray gun in the base game and transforming into matching symbols. The base game’s only real feature.
- The Ted meter raising the minimum Megaways is a genuinely clever bonus mechanic — it fixes the main weakness of Megaways rounds, which is a wide multiplier landing on a narrow board.
- An unlimited, non-resetting multiplier is the full Bonanza treatment, and more generous than several licensed Megaways games that cap it.
- 96.03% is the highest RTP of the three Blueprint Megaways games reviewed here.
- 12 free spins rather than 10 partly compensates for the demanding four-scatter trigger.
- The £250,000 cap quietly rewrites the ceiling. 50,000× only pays in full at £5 or below; at £20 a spin your real cap is 12,500×.
- Four scatters to trigger is harder than the three most Megaways games ask for.
- No bonus buy in the UK and several other regulated markets, so the demanding trigger cannot be bypassed.
- No hit frequency is published, which on a high-volatility Megaways game is the number you would most want.
How Ted Megaways compares
Against the other Megaways games reviewed here, Ted is mid-table on RTP and — before the money cap — near the top on ceiling.
| Game | Studio | RTP | Volatility | Max win | Ways |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ted Megaways | Blueprint Gaming | 96.03% | High | 50,000× (capped £250,000) | 117,649 |
| Wolf Legend Megaways | Blueprint Gaming | 96.21% | High | 50,000× (capped £250,000) | 117,649 |
| Mighty Griffin Megaways | Blueprint Gaming | 95.46% | High | 50,000× (capped) | 117,649 |
| Bonanza | Big Time Gaming | 96% | High | 26,000× | 117,649 |
| Wheel of Fortune Megaways | IGT | 96.46% | High | 80,150× | 117,649 |
All three Blueprint games carry the same 50,000×-capped-at-£250,000 structure, so the honest comparison between them is RTP and bonus design — where Wolf Legend wins on the first and Ted wins on the second. Bonanza’s 26,000× is uncapped, which at higher stakes makes it the larger real ceiling. Wheel of Fortune Megaways is the biggest number on the list.
Ted Megaways RTP, volatility and max win
96.03%, which is the best of Blueprint’s three Megaways games reviewed here and a touch above Bonanza itself. No RTP variants are documented for this title, though Blueprint ships operator-selected builds across much of its range, so the information screen remains worth a look.
The high volatility rating is as expected for a game whose top end sits in an uncapped multiplier. No hit frequency is published — a real gap. What can be said structurally is that cascades give each spin several chances rather than one, so paying spins arrive more often than the volatility label suggests; they are simply small until the multiplier builds.
The number that deserves the most attention is not the RTP at all. The £250,000 cap means the headline 50,000× is stake-dependent: it pays in full at £5, becomes 25,000× at £10, and 12,500× at £20. If you play this game at meaningful stakes, your actual ceiling is a fraction of the advertised one, and the game does not make that obvious anywhere except the small print.
Bets, bankroll and session planning
Blueprint sets the range per operator and publishes no single span for this title.
The important interaction is between stake and ceiling. Because of the £250,000 cap, raising your stake lowers your effective maximum multiplier. That is the opposite of the usual instinct, and it is the single most useful piece of strategy on this game: if the 50,000× is what you are here for, stake £5 or less.
A bonus buy exists in some markets but not in the UK, where feature buys are prohibited. Where it is unavailable the only route to Thunder Buddies is four scatters, which is a demanding trigger with no shortcut.
Playing on mobile
Runs in the browser on a phone with no download and no app. Six variable reels plus a top reel is a dense board for a small screen, and when all six run seven high in portrait the symbols get small. Blueprint rebuilt its Megaways range for mobile and it is perfectly playable, but the multiplier readout during Thunder Buddies is the thing worth being able to see clearly, and a larger screen helps.
Five things to know before you spin
- Stake £5 or less if the 50,000× matters to you. The £250,000 money cap means a higher stake mathematically lowers your maximum multiplier.
- Watch the Ted meter, not just the spin count. It raises the minimum Megaways, so the board gets structurally wider as the round goes on.
- The multiplier never resets during the round. The last few spins of a long Thunder Buddies carry nearly all the value.
- Four scatters, not three. Three is a good spin, not a near-miss — and in the UK there is no buy to fall back on.
- Check availability before you plan on it. This is a licensed-IP game and it is absent from some markets entirely.

Who this slot is for
If you play Megaways games and want the best-designed bonus round Blueprint has built, this is it. The Ted meter raising the minimum Megaways solves the genre’s most persistent frustration — a big multiplier arriving on a narrow board — and pairing it with an uncapped progressive multiplier makes a long round genuinely compound.
It suits you less at higher stakes, and that is a maths point rather than a taste one: the £250,000 cap means the advertised ceiling shrinks as your bet grows. Bonanza at an uncapped 26,000× is the better high-stakes proposition, and Wolf Legend Megaways is the same Blueprint structure at a slightly higher 96.21% with a buy at 75× where it is permitted.

Our verdict on Ted Megaways
The best Megaways bonus Blueprint has built — mind the money cap
The Ted meter is the reason to play this. Megaways rounds have one chronic weakness: you build a huge multiplier and then the board draws narrow and wastes it. Raising the minimum number of ways as the round progresses fixes that directly, and paired with an uncapped, non-resetting multiplier it makes a long Thunder Buddies compound in two dimensions at once. At 96.03% it is also the best-returning of Blueprint’s Megaways trio.
The catch is arithmetic, not design. The £250,000 cap means the advertised 50,000× is only real at £5 or below, and almost nothing written about this game says so. Add a four-scatter trigger with no UK buy to bypass it, and the route to the good part is narrow.
Play it at modest stakes, where the ceiling is genuine and the bonus design shines. At larger stakes, Bonanza’s uncapped 26,000× is the better real ceiling even though the headline is half the size.
