Mighty Griffin Megaways slot by Blueprint Gaming — game artwork

The Mighty Griffin Megaways demo is the free, no-signup version of Blueprint Gaming’s December 2019 release — a six-reel Megaways board with up to 117,649 ways, an uncapped free spins multiplier and a Jackpot King progressive bolted on. The headline is a 50,000× maximum win, and the detail that matters is the £250,000 cash cap sitting behind it: above a £5 stake, that headline is arithmetically unreachable.

The Mighty Griffin Megaways demo runs the real game on play money: the same variable reels, the same Golden Streak, the same climbing multiplier. No download, no account, no deposit.

Demo it to understand the free spins multiplier, which is the only reason to play this game. It rises by one with every cascade and has no cap, so a single long chain is worth more than a dozen ordinary rounds. You need to see one to understand what you are waiting for.

ProviderBlueprint GamingBlueprint publishes RTP ladders by build ID for many titles. Sources disagree on this one — SlotCatalog records 95.46%, other databases print 96.50% as a UK figure — and the review gives both rather than choosing.

Top line pay50,000× stake, capped at £250,000Read both halves of that. The multiplier is 50,000×, but the cash cap is £250,000 — which means the full multiplier is only reachable at stakes of £5 or below. Bet £10 and your real ceiling is 25,000×, not 50,000×.
JackpotJackpot King progressiveThe game feeds Blueprint’s Jackpot King network. SlotCatalog records jackpot components of 0.08% and 0.41% taken from the return, so part of what you stake funds a pool you may never reach.

How the game plays

A six-reel Megaways board where each reel shows between two and seven symbols on any given spin. The number of ways is the product of those heights, so it changes every spin, up to a maximum of 117,649.

Wins pay left to right from reel one on adjacent reels, regardless of position. Winning symbols are removed and new ones cascade down to replace them, so one spin can chain.

Mystery symbols can land anywhere, and every Mystery symbol on screen reveals the same randomly chosen symbol — though never a scatter.

The story behind the game

Blueprint was one of the first studios to license the Megaways engine from Big Time Gaming and has since built one of the largest Megaways catalogues anywhere. Mighty Griffin landed on 23 December 2019 into a market already crowded with them.

What set it apart was the combination: an uncapped cascade multiplier in free spins, and a route into Jackpot King, Blueprint’s cross-game progressive. Few Megaways boards of that era offered both.

Symbols and paytable

A mythological board with variable reel heights and three separate things that can happen on top of an ordinary win.

MegawaysSix reels showing 2–7 symbols each. Ways recalculate every spin, up to 117,649.
CascadesWinning symbols are removed and replaced from above. The chain continues until no new win forms.
Mystery symbolsLand anywhere; all of them reveal the same randomly selected symbol. They never reveal a scatter.
Griffin scattersThree or more trigger the Golden Streak sequence, which precedes free spins.
Golden StreakA mini round dropping only bonus symbols and blanks, stacking up your free spins total before the round begins.
Free spins multiplierRises by one with every cascade, and has no cap. This is the entire reason to play the game.
RetriggersScatters during free spins add five or ten more, depending on how many land.
Jackpot KingTriggered by overlay symbols. A ladder round where crowns push a multiplier, with the Wheel King at the end.

The top symbol pays 50× for six of a kind, which tells you plainly that the paytable is not where this game’s money is. The multiplier is.

Bonus features and free spins

👑

An uncapped free spins multiplier

Every cascade during free spins raises the win multiplier by one, and there is no ceiling on it. A round that chains twenty times is running at 20× by the end. This single rule is why the game has a 50,000× headline at all.

✨

The Golden Streak

Land three or more scatters and before the free spins begin you get a mini round that drops only bonus symbols and blank spaces, stacking your spin total. You know how long your round will be before it starts.

❓

Mystery symbols

They can land in any position and all of them reveal the same random symbol, which can turn a dead board into a large win in one reveal. They never reveal scatters, so they cannot hand you the bonus.

💰

Jackpot King

Overlay symbols open Blueprint’s cross-game progressive. A ladder where crowns raise your multiplier, with the option to collect early or jump to the Wheel King. The jackpot takes a slice of the return to fund it.

📉

The £250,000 cash cap

Not a feature so much as a constraint, and the most important line in the paytable. 50,000× is only achievable at stakes up to £5. Above that the cash cap binds first and the real ceiling falls.

What we like

  • The uncapped free spins multiplier is genuinely rare — most Megaways games cap theirs, and the absence of a ceiling is what makes a long round exciting.
  • The Golden Streak tells you your spin count before the round starts, which is a small but real piece of player respect.
  • 117,649 ways at the top end, with cascades, keeps the base game varied even when it is not paying.
  • Mystery symbols can transform a board in one reveal, and they are honest about never hiding a scatter.
  • A 10p entry makes it accessible, and 10p is also comfortably inside the stake band where the 50,000× is actually reachable.
What to watch

  • The £250,000 cash cap means the advertised 50,000× is unreachable above a £5 stake. Almost nobody writes this down.
  • Sources disagree on the RTP by a full point — 95.46% against 96.50% — and we could not confirm either against Blueprint.
  • The Jackpot King contribution takes 0.08% and 0.41% out of the return to fund a pool most players will never win.
  • No published hit frequency from any source, so there is no honest way to say how often it pays.
  • The headline paytable is weak — 50× for six of the top symbol — so an ordinary free spins round without a long cascade chain is worth very little.

How Mighty Griffin Megaways compares

The cash cap is what makes this table misleading at a glance. On paper Mighty Griffin’s ceiling is five times Fishin’ Frenzy Even Bigger Fish’s; at a £10 stake the two are much closer than the headline suggests.

Mighty Griffin Megaways RTP, volatility and max win

Mighty Griffin Megaways is published at more than one RTP. This is a case where the sources genuinely disagree, and a point of RTP is too large a gap to average away. SlotCatalog records 95.46%; other databases print 96.50%. Blueprint ships multiple certified builds of most of its games — its Fishin’ Frenzy ladders are published openly as 95/93/92 by build ID — so both figures may be true of different versions. The information screen inside the game is the only authority for the one you are playing.

SlotCatalog records 95.46%. Other databases print 96.50% as the UK figure. That is a full percentage point of disagreement, and we have not been able to settle it against anything Blueprint publishes.

Both may well be true of different builds — Blueprint openly ships RTP ladders by build ID on other games, and its Fishin’ Frenzy titles run 95/93/92. On top of whichever build you have, the Jackpot King contribution takes a further 0.08% and 0.41% to fund the progressive. The information screen inside the game is the only thing that knows your number.

Bets, bankroll and session planning

Stakes run from 10p to £10 a spin — a narrow band by modern standards, and in this case a useful one. At £5 or below the £250,000 cash cap does not bind and the full 50,000× is theoretically available. At the £10 maximum your real ceiling is halved to 25,000×.

That makes the stake choice here unusually consequential, and it argues for playing below £5.

Playing on mobile

Megaways boards are busy by nature and a six-reel grid with seven-symbol reels is a lot for a phone. Blueprint handles it by shrinking symbol height rather than cropping reels, so the full board is always visible. The multiplier counter during free spins stays large and central, which is the thing that had to work.

Five things to know before you spin

  1. Stay at £5 a spin or below if the ceiling matters. The £250,000 cash cap binds before the 50,000× multiplier does. At the £10 maximum your real ceiling is halved to 25,000×.
  2. Count cascades, not spins. The free spins multiplier rises by one per cascade and never caps, so a round’s value is decided by its longest chain rather than its length.
  3. Treat the RTP as unsettled. SlotCatalog records 95.46% and other databases print 96.50%. We could not confirm either against Blueprint, so the information screen is the only authority.
  4. Factor in the Jackpot King contribution. SlotCatalog records components of 0.08% and 0.41% taken from the return to fund a pool you will almost certainly never win.
  5. Do not expect the paytable to carry you. The top symbol pays 50× for six of a kind. Without a long cascade chain, a free spins round is worth very little.

Who this slot is for

For Megaways players who want an uncapped multiplier and do not mind a weak base paytable to get it. If you are stake-led and play at £10, look elsewhere — the cash cap quietly removes half of what you came for.

Our verdict on Mighty Griffin Megaways

7.7/ 10

An uncapped multiplier with a cash cap nobody mentions

The free spins multiplier here is the real thing: it rises with every cascade and never stops, which in a market full of capped Megaways rounds is worth seeking out. Add the Golden Streak telling you your spin count up front and Mystery symbols that can transform a board, and the feature set is strong.

Two things hold it back, and both are about numbers rather than design. The RTP is disputed by a full point between sources, with Jackpot King taking a further slice on top. And the 50,000× headline is bounded by a £250,000 cash cap that makes it unreachable above a £5 stake — a detail essentially nobody prints, and one that halves the advertised ceiling for anyone playing at the game’s own maximum bet.

Play it under £5 or do not play it for the ceiling at all.
