Wicked Grin slot by Hacksaw Gaming — game artwork

The Wicked Grin demo is the free, no-signup version of the last of Hacksaw Gaming’s six releases in September and October 2026. It is a 5×5 all-scatter game — wins need six or more matching symbols anywhere — rated 3 out of 5 for volatility, with a 10,000× ceiling. Grin symbols landing on the bottom row expand and convert their whole reel into coins worth up to 500× or multipliers up to x20. Play it free here with no account and no deposit.

Hacksaw Gaming · A standalone game, and the last of six Hacksaw releases in a three-week run. It belongs to the studio’s coin-and-multiplier lineage: the grid symbols are a means of producing coins rather than something you collect for their own sake.

The Wicked Grin demo runs the real game on play credits: the same 5×5 grid, the same expanding Grin symbols, the same spreading scatters and both bonus rounds. Demo credits have no cash value, cannot be withdrawn, and reset when you reload the page.

One honest note about this title specifically: neither Hacksaw nor the usual data sources publish a hit frequency for it, where they do for four of the other five games in this run. The demo is therefore the only way to get a feel for how often it pays, and a few hundred spins is a reasonable sample for a 3/5 volatility game.

ProviderHacksaw GamingHacksaw Gaming publishes a specification page for this title; the RTP list, the 3/5 volatility rating, the 10,000× ceiling, the All-Scatter win type and the 8 October 2026 release date are taken from it. The 5×5 grid, the scatter pay values and the 0.10–100 stake range come from the game’s own information screen as recorded by BigWinBoard. No hit frequency is published for this game by either source, and none is invented below.

How the game plays

A five by five grid with no paylines at all. Hacksaw calls the win type All-Scatter: six or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid pay, regardless of where they sit or whether they touch. That is the key difference from Demonic Dolls, released two days earlier, where symbols must be connected.

The scatter pay table is steep at both ends. Six or seven matching symbols pay 0.1× to 0.5× the bet. Seventeen or more pay 25× to 100×. As with every game in this run, the base symbols exist to be converted rather than to be collected: the real values are in the coins.

The mechanic is positional. Grin symbols only do anything from the bottom row, and what they do is expand upwards across their own reel, turning every position on it into either a Coin or a Multiplier.

The story behind the game

Wicked Grin arrived on 8 October 2026, two days after Demonic Dolls and three weeks after Fist of Destruction Megamultiplier opened the run. Six games in twenty-two days is a release pace very few studios attempt, and the six are genuinely different from one another: a 5/5 brawler, a Hold & Win, a ricochet-wild game, two cluster games and this.

It is the only one of the six built on all-scatter pays, and the only one for which no hit frequency has been published.

Symbols and paytable

Two tables matter: the scatter pays, which set the floor, and the coin and multiplier values revealed by an expanding Grin, which set everything else.

Note where multipliers reach: upwards and sideways, never downwards. A multiplier revealed low on a reel covers almost the whole board above it, and one revealed near the top covers next to nothing. Position is worth more than value here.

Bonus features and free spins

😈

Grins only work from the bottom row

A Wicked Grin or Super Wicked Grin does nothing anywhere else. Landing on the bottom row, it expands up its own reel and turns every position into a Coin or a Multiplier. A 5×5 grid means one Grin converts five positions, and the bottom row is the only place worth watching as the reels stop.

❌

Multipliers only reach up and across

A revealed Multiplier of x2 to x20 applies to Coins above it on its own reel, and to Coins on adjacent reels in the rows above. It never applies downwards. The practical effect is that a Multiplier on the second row from the bottom is worth many times one on the fourth, and there is nothing you can do about which you get.

💫

A Super Grin sets off its neighbours

When a Super Wicked Grin expands, Wicked Grin symbols on adjacent reels expand too — from wherever they currently are, not only from the bottom row. That is the one route to converting most of the board in the base game, and it is why the Grinny feature buy exists.

🎰

Scatters spread, and their positions count the spins

When an FS or Super FS lands on the bottom row, each FS symbol expands to cover its whole reel. The free spins awarded are the sum of the numbers shown across the revealed positions, so the round length is decided by the spread rather than by a fixed trigger table. Up to two scatters or two super scatters can be on the grid at once, but never both types together.

🪙

Two bonus rounds that treat coins in opposite ways

An expanding FS gives Stash N Stack: 5 to 30 free spins with a Stash above each reel that multiplies the Coin values on that reel, starting at x1 and rising by one each spin. An expanding Super FS gives Coin Craze: 5 to 30 free spins where a Coin Collector on each reel saves every Coin value, boosted by revealed Multipliers, and pays the lot at the end.

What we like

  • All-scatter pays with a 5×5 grid removes the connection requirement entirely, so near-misses do not exist — six matching symbols anywhere is a win.
  • Coins worth up to 500× each, with multipliers up to x20 on top, give a 10,000× ceiling a clear and visible route.
  • The two bonus rounds genuinely differ. Stash N Stack escalates a per-reel multiplier spin by spin; Coin Craze banks everything and pays once. They are not two names for the same round.
  • Variable round length — 5 to 30 free spins decided by how the scatters spread — makes the trigger itself interesting rather than a fixed outcome.
  • 96.27% with a 3/5 volatility rating puts it in the approachable half of this run, and within hundredths of a point of four of its five stablemates.
What to watch

  • No published hit frequency. Four of the other five games in this run have one; this does not, from Hacksaw or from the usual data sources, so how often it pays is something only the demo will tell you.
  • Six or seven matching symbols pay 0.1× to 0.5× the bet — less than the stake. Most registered wins on this game are losses in practice.
  • Multiplier position is everything and is pure luck. The same x20 is worth a fortune on the second row and almost nothing on the fourth.
  • Grins are dead anywhere but the bottom row in the base game, so a grid can show three of them and do nothing at all.
  • Four RTP builds down to 86.28%, and the Coin Craze buy costs 200× the stake where feature buys are permitted at all.

How Wicked Grin compares

Against the rest of Hacksaw’s September and October 2026 run, which is the fairest comparison available — six games from one studio in twenty-two days, and the differences between them are the point.

Four games, four near-identical headline RTPs and the same volatility rating — which is a useful illustration of how little those two figures distinguish games in practice. What separates them is the mechanic and the hit frequency, and on the second of those Wicked Grin is the only one that leaves the question open.

Wicked Grin RTP, volatility and max win

Wicked Grin is published at more than one RTP. Four certified builds and the operator chooses. The bottom build here is 86.28%, within a hundredth of a point of the bottom build on Fist of Destruction Megamultiplier and Wicked Grin’s other stablemates — Hacksaw uses a consistent ladder across its catalogue, which at least makes the question easy to ask at any casino.

96.27%the headline build, and the one Hacksaw leads with
94.32%two points down
92.28%four points below the headline
86.28%ten points below the headline — avoid

96.27% is the highest of four certified builds. The others are 94.32%, 92.28% and 86.28%, and the casino decides which it runs. Hacksaw publishes the full ladder on its own game page.

What is striking across this run is how consistent that ladder is. Five of the six games headline between 96.23% and 96.31%, and four of the six bottom out between 86.21% and 86.29%. Only Le Vampire breaks the pattern, with a fifth build at 97.57%. Hacksaw is clearly configuring to a house standard rather than tuning each title, which means the question to ask a casino is the same one every time.

Without a published hit frequency there is less to say about how 96.27% will feel in play than there is for the other five. The scatter pay table suggests a game that registers wins often and pays small — six matching symbols at 0.1× is below the stake — with the real return concentrated in expanding Grins and the two bonus rounds. The demo is the way to check that.

Bets, bankroll and session planning

Stakes run from 0.10 to 100 per spin according to the game’s information screen, the same range as Dr Zappo and Demonic Dolls.

Four feature buys are offered where regulation allows: BonusHunt FeatureSpins at 3× the bet, making each spin five times more likely to trigger a bonus; Grinny FeatureSpins at 50×, guaranteeing at least one type of Wicked Grin symbol; Stash N Stack at 80×; and Coin Craze at 200×. Feature buys are prohibited in the UK and several other markets, so they will not appear everywhere.

Playing on mobile

A 5×5 grid with all-scatter pays is the most phone-friendly combination in this run. Nothing needs to be traced along a line and nothing needs to be checked for connection — six matching symbols anywhere is a win, which is a far easier thing to see at portrait width than a connected cluster.

The expanding Grin animation reads well small, because it moves vertically up a single reel rather than spreading in several directions at once. The one thing a small screen costs you is judging where a revealed Multiplier sits relative to the Coins above it, which is the detail that decides what the spin is worth.

Five things to know before you spin

  1. Watch the bottom row and nothing else as the reels stop. A Grin anywhere above it does nothing in the base game.
  2. A low Multiplier is better than a high one placed high. Multipliers reach up and sideways only, so one on the second row covers most of the board and one on the fourth covers almost none.
  3. A Super Grin is worth far more than a regular one. It makes Grins on adjacent reels expand from wherever they are, which is the only way to convert most of the grid outside a bonus.
  4. Read the scatter spread, not the scatter count. The free spins awarded are the sum of the numbers revealed across the expanded reels, so two scatters can award anything from 5 to 30 spins.
  5. Treat the missing hit frequency as a reason to use the demo. It is the one figure the studio has not published for this title, and a few hundred free spins answers it better than any review can.

Who this slot is for

For players who want coin-collection without a connection requirement. All-scatter pays make this the most forgiving grid in the run to read, and the two bonus rounds — one escalating, one banking — give it more variety than a single feature game. A 3/5 volatility rating and a 96.27% top build keep it sustainable.

It is less suited to anyone who dislikes wins that are smaller than the stake. Six matching symbols paying 0.1× will register as a win on screen and take money off you, which is a design choice worth knowing about before you commit. And with no published hit frequency, this is the one game of the six where the demo is doing real work rather than just previewing the art.

Wicked Grin demo and slot FAQ

Can I play the Wicked Grin demo for free?
Yes. The demo on this page runs the full game on play credits — the same 5×5 all-scatter grid, the same expanding Grin symbols and both bonus rounds. No account, no deposit, no download.
What is the RTP of Wicked Grin?
Hacksaw Gaming certifies four builds: 96.27%, 94.32%, 92.28% and 86.28%. The casino chooses which it runs, so the figure differs between sites. The in-game information screen states the active setting.
What is the maximum win?
10,000× your total bet, published by Hacksaw. It is assembled in the bonus rounds, where coins worth up to 500× each are multiplied by a per-reel Stash in Stash N Stack or saved to a per-reel Coin Collector in Coin Craze.
How do the Wicked Grin symbols work?
A Wicked Grin or Super Wicked Grin landing on the bottom row expands up its own reel and turns every position into a Coin worth up to 500× or a Multiplier of x2 to x20. Multipliers apply to Coins above them on that reel and on adjacent reels in the rows above. A Super Wicked Grin also makes Grins on adjacent reels expand from their current positions.
How do you win without paylines?
Wins are all-scatter: six or more matching symbols anywhere on the 5×5 grid pay, whether or not they touch. Six or seven pay 0.1× to 0.5× the bet, and seventeen or more pay 25× to 100×.
What is the hit frequency of Wicked Grin?
Hacksaw does not publish one for this game, and neither do the databases that carry figures for its stablemates. It is the only one of the studio’s six September and October 2026 releases without a published figure, so we do not quote one. The free demo is the way to judge it.
Can I win real money playing the demo?
No. Demo credits have no cash value, so a demo win cannot be withdrawn and a demo loss costs nothing. 18+.

Our verdict on Wicked Grin

7.0/ 10

Position matters more than luck of the draw, and you control neither

Wicked Grin closes Hacksaw’s three-week run with the simplest grid of the six and one of the more interesting payout geometries. All-scatter pays mean no near-misses and nothing to trace; Grins expanding from the bottom row mean a single symbol converts a whole reel; and multipliers that reach upwards and sideways but never down mean the same x20 can be worth a fortune or almost nothing depending on which row it lands in. That last detail is the game, and it is a genuinely good one.

Two things keep the score where it is. The first is the scatter table: six matching symbols pay 0.1× the stake, so a large share of what the game calls wins are net losses, which is a design the all-scatter format invites and this one leans into. The second is the gap in the data. Hacksaw publishes a hit frequency for four of its other five recent releases and not for this one, and no independent source fills it in either. That is not a reason to avoid the game, but it is a reason to spend time in the demo before anywhere else.

Of the six, it is neither the best nor the one to skip. Le Vampire is the better game and Dr Zappo has the better idea, but Wicked Grin is the easiest of the three to just sit down and read.
