The Goonies demo is the free, no-signup version of Blueprint Gaming’s October 2018 film tie-in — a 20-line board carrying six base-game modifiers and six separate bonus rounds. It runs 96% RTP and medium-high volatility. The maximum needs care: SlotCatalog gives 10,000× or £250,000, whichever comes first, which means the multiplier is only reachable at stakes of £25 or below.

Play the The Goonies demo free
The Goonies demo runs the real game on play money: the same twenty lines, the same wheel, the same six bonus rounds. No download, no account, no deposit.
Demo it because of the variance in what the trigger gives you. Twelve features — six modifiers and six bonuses — means two players can have entirely different impressions of the same game, and a short session may show you only two or three of them.

The Goonies slot at a glance
How the game plays
A conventional five reels by three rows with 20 fixed paylines, paying left to right. No cascades, no ways-to-win, no Megaways engine.
What carries it is everything layered on top. Six modifiers fire at random during ordinary spins, and landing the bonus opens a wheel that selects one of six different bonus rounds.
One-Eyed Willy’s Riches sits at the top of that structure as the headline feature.
The story behind the game
Blueprint has built a large business on licensed film and television slots, and The Goonies, released on 25 October 2018, is one of its most durable. It arrived at the point where the studio had settled on a house structure: a plain board, a lot of modifiers, and a wheel that picks between several bonuses.
A sequel, The Goonies Return, followed in 2021 as a separate game with its own maths — worth checking you are on the one you meant.
Symbols and paytable
Twenty fixed lines and a straightforward ladder, with everything interesting bolted on top.
| Paylines | 20 fixed, paying left to right from reel one. |
|---|---|
| Base-game modifiers | Six of them, firing at random during ordinary spins. |
| Bonus trigger | Opens a wheel that selects one of six bonus rounds. |
| Bonus rounds | Six variations, including free spins and pick games. |
| One-Eyed Willy’s Riches | The headline feature the game is built around. |
| Maximum multiplier | 10,000× the stake, per SlotCatalog. |
| Cash cap | £250,000, which binds first at any stake above £25. |
| Bet range | 0.10 to 200 a spin. |
Twelve features in total across modifiers and bonuses. On a 2018 board that is a great deal of machinery.
Bonus features and free spins
Six bonus rounds behind one trigger
A wheel decides which one you get. The trigger is the same every time but the payoff varies enormously, which is the single biggest source of variance in the game.
Six base-game modifiers
They fire without warning during ordinary spins and are the reason a plain 20-line board does not feel flat between bonuses. Half the feature set never requires a trigger at all.
One-Eyed Willy’s Riches
The headline bonus and the one the licence is really selling. It is the outcome most players are hoping the wheel lands on.
The £250,000 cash cap
The most important line in the paytable. 10,000× holds only up to a £25 stake; at the £200 maximum the cap works out at 1,250×. The cap, not the multiplier, is your real ceiling.
No modern mechanics
No cascades, no multiplier ladder, no expanding grid. This is a 2018 board doing 2018 things, and it should be judged against its contemporaries.
- 96% RTP with no lower build surfacing in the sources we checked — better than most of Blueprint’s catalogue, where 95/93/92 ladders are standard.
- Twelve features across six modifiers and six bonuses give an ordinary board real range.
- Medium-high volatility with modifiers firing in the base game means you are rarely just watching reels spin.
- A 10p entry keeps it accessible, and 10p sits comfortably inside the stake band where the full multiplier is reachable.
- The film licence is used properly rather than pasted on — the bonus rounds reference the story rather than just the artwork.
- The £250,000 cash cap makes the 10,000× headline unreachable above a £25 stake, and at the £200 maximum your real ceiling is 1,250×.
- Several review sites print a 50,000× maximum that no authoritative source supports — worth knowing before you compare it to anything.
- Which of the six bonuses you get is chosen for you, so the trigger you waited for can land on the one you least wanted.
- No published hit frequency from any source, so there is no honest way to say how often it pays.
- The sequel shares the name and has different maths, which makes it easy to end up on the wrong game.
How The Goonies compares
The Goonies against the other Blueprint boards we have reviewed — and note the cash-cap column.
| Game | Released | Lines / ways | Max win | RTP | Cash cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Goonies | 2018 | 20 lines | 10,000× | 96.00 | £250,000 |
| Mighty Griffin Megaways | 2019 | 117,649 | 50,000× | 95.46 | £250,000 |
| Luck O’ The Irish Fortune Spins | 2015 | 10 both-way | 50,000× | 95.05 / 95.32 | £250,000 |
| King Kong Cash | 2016 | 20 lines | 1,000× | 95.79 | — |
| Fishin’ Frenzy Even Bigger Fish | 2023 | 10 lines | 10,000× | 95 / 93 / 92 | — |
Three Blueprint games in this table share the same £250,000 cash cap. It is a house structure rather than a quirk of one title, and it is worth recognising wherever a Blueprint game advertises a five-figure multiplier.
The Goonies RTP, volatility and max win
96% is what SlotCatalog records, and no lower certified build surfaced in the sources we checked. That is notable, because Blueprint publishes 95/93/92 ladders openly on other titles — its Fishin’ Frenzy games run at those three figures by build ID.
So on return this is one of the better Blueprint games, roughly a point above its own stablemates. The information screen inside the game remains the place to confirm it.
Bets, bankroll and session planning
Stakes run from 10p to £200 a spin, which is a very wide band and in this case a consequential one. At £25 or below the £250,000 cash cap does not bind and the full 10,000× is available. At the £200 maximum the same cap works out at 1,250×.
If the ceiling is why you are playing, that makes the stake choice more important here than the game ever tells you.
Playing on mobile
A 20-line, five-by-three board is easy on a phone, and the work is in the bonus rounds — six of them, several involving picks and trails that need room. Blueprint scales them rather than cropping, and the wheel that selects between them reads clearly at small sizes.
Five things to know before you spin
- Stay at £25 a spin or below if the ceiling matters. The £250,000 cash cap binds before the 10,000× multiplier does above that, and at the £200 maximum your real ceiling is 1,250×.
- Ignore the 50,000× figure you will see elsewhere. No authoritative source supports it. SlotCatalog gives 10,000× or £250,000, whichever comes first.
- Treat the bonus trigger as a lottery between six outcomes. You do not choose which round you get, so a short demo session may give a very unrepresentative impression of the game.
- Judge the base game on the modifiers. Six of the twelve features never need a trigger, and they are what you will actually spend most of your time with.
- Check you are on the right game. The Goonies Return is a separate 2021 title with its own maths, and the names are easy to confuse.

Our verdict on The Goonies
Blueprint’s best return, behind a cap almost nobody mentions
At 96% with no lower build in evidence, this is one of the better-returning games Blueprint makes — a point clear of the 95/93/92 ladders its Fishin’ Frenzy titles run on. Twelve features across six modifiers and six bonuses give a plain 2018 board more variety than games twice its age, and the licence is used with some actual care.
What nobody prints is the ceiling structure. 10,000× holds only to a £25 stake; above that the £250,000 cash cap decides your maximum, and at the game’s own £200 top bet that works out at 1,250×. This is the third Blueprint game we have reviewed with the identical cap, so treat it as a house rule rather than a quirk.
Worth playing, at a sensible stake, and ignore the 50,000× figure floating around the review sites.
