Pirots 4 slot by ELK Studios — game artwork

The Pirots 4 demo is the free, no-signup version of ELK Studios’ July 2025 release — the space instalment of its bird-collection series, played on a 6×6 grid that expands to 8×8. The number that defines it is the RTP: 94%, and ELK ships only that one build. No operator ladder, no hidden version, the same figure at every stake and on every feature buy. That is rare, and it cuts both ways.

The Pirots 4 demo runs the real game on play money: the same birds, the same collection meter, the same expanding grid. No download, no account, no deposit.

Demo it to understand the persistence, which is what separates this series from every other collection game. Grid size, meter progress and gem upgrades all carry over into the bonus round, so what you build in the base game is still there when the feature starts. Nothing else explains that as well as watching it happen.

How the game plays

The base game is a 6×6 grid — 36 positions, no paylines. Birds move across the grid eating symbols and filling a collection meter.

Each time the meter fills, a pending feature symbol release is added. Up to three can be held at once, and they are awarded together.

Corner bombs are the other half of the design: detonating one clears every bird and gem in a 3×3 area and expands the grid. That is how 6×6 becomes 8×8, and the expansion persists.

The story behind the game

ELK built the Pirots series around an idea most studios never attempt: a board with memory. Progress accumulates rather than resetting each spin, so a session develops rather than repeating.

Pirots 4 arrived on 24 July 2025 and took the birds into space. Pirots 5 followed and is the one we reviewed first — worth comparing, because the two share a ceiling and a mechanic but not an RTP.

Symbols and paytable

A collection board rather than a paytable board. What matters is the meter, the grid and the bombs.

Collection meterBirds eat symbols to fill it. Each fill adds one pending feature symbol release.
Pending releasesUp to three can be held at once, and they are awarded together when they resolve.
Corner bombsDetonating one removes every bird and gem in a 3×3 area and expands the grid.
Grid expansion6×6 at the start, reaching 8×8 at full expansion.
Bonus triggerThree scatters collected by the birds award 5 free spins. Each further scatter during the round adds one.
Super bonusIf one of the triggering scatters is a super bonus symbol, you get the super bonus game instead — played on a full 8×8 grid.

Five separate purchase prices is a lot of ways to buy in. All of them return the same 94%, which is at least consistent.

Bonus features and free spins

🐦

A board with memory

Grid size, collection meter progress and gem upgrades persist into the bonus round rather than resetting. What you build in the base game is still there when the feature starts, which is the whole reason this series exists.

💣

Corner bombs that grow the grid

Detonating a bomb clears a 3×3 area and expands the playfield. Six by six becomes eight by eight, and more positions means more room for the birds to work.

🚀

The super bonus

If a triggering scatter is a super bonus symbol you skip the ordinary round entirely and play on a full 8×8 grid from the start. It is the single best outcome in the game.

📊

One RTP, no ladder

94%, identical at every stake and on every X-iter purchase. After the five-point spread on Reactoonz and two-point ladders across Pragmatic’s whole catalogue, a studio shipping one certified figure is genuinely unusual.

💵

Five X-iter prices

Bonus Hunt at 3× the bet, Alien Invasion at 25×, Lost in Space at 50×, free spins at 100× and super free spins at 500×. ELK publishes every price, which is more than most buy-feature games do.

What we like

  • One RTP build. No operator ladder, no hidden version, the same 94% at every stake and on every feature buy — you always know exactly what you are playing.
  • The persistence mechanic is genuinely distinctive: a board that remembers is still rare, and ELK does it better than anyone.
  • A hit frequency of 25% — a win roughly every four rounds — keeps the base game active while the meter builds.
  • All five X-iter prices are published, so the cost of every shortcut is visible before you take it.
  • The grid expanding from 6×6 to 8×8 changes the game materially rather than decoratively.
What to watch

  • 94% is low. Two and a half points below a typical modern release, and because there is only one build, there is no better version to hope for.
  • The ceiling did not move: 10,000× is the same as the rest of the series, so the fourth instalment offers no more upside than the first.
  • ELK publishes no max-win probability, so there is no way to judge how remote the 10,000× actually is.
  • Five purchase options on a 94% game is a lot of invitations to spend at a below-average return.
  • Sources describe the grid inconsistently — 6×6, 6×8 and 8×8 all appear — because it changes during play, which makes comparison shopping harder than it should be.

How Pirots 4 compares

The row above this one is the uncomfortable comparison. Pirots 5 runs at 96% and Pirots 4 at 94% — same studio, same series, same ceiling, same hit rate, two full points apart. If you are choosing between them on numbers alone, it is not close.

Pirots 4 RTP, volatility and max win

94%, and that is the entire story. ELK ships one certified build, identical at every stake and on every X-iter purchase, with no operator-selectable ladder behind it.

There is something genuinely honest about that. Most of the games in this library hide a two-point spread the player cannot see or choose; here the figure is the figure. But 94% is a low figure to be so consistent about — two and a half points below a typical modern release — and because there is no better version, a casino running this game cannot give you a good one.

Bets, bankroll and session planning

Stakes run from €0.20 to €100 a spin. The X-iter buys sit on top as separate outlays: 3×, 25×, 50×, 100× and 500× the bet.

At 94%, a 500× super free spins purchase is a very large amount of money going through a below-average return in a single transaction.

Playing on mobile

A grid that changes size mid-session is the hard case on a phone, and ELK handles it by scaling symbols rather than cropping the board, so an 8×8 expansion stays fully visible. The collection meter sits alongside rather than over the grid, which matters because it is the thing you are actually watching.

Five things to know before you spin

  1. Know that 94% is the only build. There is no better version to shop for, which is unusually honest and unusually low. Factor it in before you decide this is a game you want to put volume through.
  2. Play for the persistence, not the ceiling. 10,000× is unchanged from the rest of the series and ELK publishes no probability for it. The grid expansion and carried-over progress are the actual appeal.
  3. Treat the super bonus as the real prize. A triggering scatter that is a super bonus symbol starts you on a full 8×8 grid, which is a different game from the ordinary round.
  4. Think hard about the X-iter prices. Five buy-ins from 3× to 500× all return the same 94%. The expensive ones do not buy you a better game, only a faster one.
  5. Compare it with Pirots 5 first. Same studio, same series, same 10,000× ceiling, near-identical hit rate — and 96% against this game’s 94%.

For players who love the Pirots idea and want the space instalment specifically. If you are choosing purely on maths, the sequel is two points better for what is recognisably the same game.

Pirots 4 demo and slot FAQ

Can I play the Pirots 4 demo for free?
Yes — the demo above is the full game on play money, with no account and no deposit. Same 6×6 grid, same collection meter, same corner bombs. Demo credits have no cash value and cannot be withdrawn.
What is the RTP of Pirots 4?
94%, and it is the only build. ELK ships no operator-selectable alternatives, and the figure is identical at every stake and on every X-iter purchase.
What is the maximum win?
10,000× your total bet — unchanged from the rest of the Pirots series. ELK publishes no probability for reaching it.
How does the grid expand?
Corner bombs. Detonating one clears every bird and gem in a 3×3 area and expands the playfield, taking the base 6×6 grid up towards 8×8. The expansion persists into the bonus.
How do the free spins work?
Three scatters collected by the birds award five free spins, and each extra scatter during the round adds one more. If a triggering scatter is a super bonus symbol you get the super bonus game instead, played on a full 8×8 grid.
What do the X-iter buys cost?
Bonus Hunt 3× the bet, Alien Invasion 25×, Lost in Space 50×, free spins 100× and super free spins 500×. All of them return the same 94%.
Is Pirots 4 better than Pirots 5?
Not on the numbers. Both cap at 10,000× with a hit rate around 25%, but Pirots 5 runs at 96% against this game’s 94%. Two full points, same studio, same series.

Our verdict on Pirots 4

8.0/ 10

An honest 94%, which is the problem and the point

ELK does two things here that almost nobody else does. It builds a board with real memory — grid size, meter progress and gem upgrades all carrying into the bonus — and it ships the game at one certified RTP, identical at every stake and every buy-in. After the two-point ladders and five-point spreads elsewhere in this library, that consistency is worth saying out loud.

The trouble is the figure it is being consistent about. 94% is two and a half points below a typical modern release, and with no ladder there is no better version to find. The ceiling has not moved from the rest of the series either.

The sequel settles it. Pirots 5 is the same ceiling, the same hit rate and the same idea at 96%. Play this one in the demo for the space theme; play that one with money.
