Pirots 5 slot by ELK Studios — game artwork

The Pirots 5 demo is the free, no-signup version of ELK Studios’ June 2026 release — a 6×6 board where four parrots walk the grid eating symbols, and where your progress is saved between sessions. Nine collectable tokens across three worlds permanently unlock a Boss Castle game, and that progress survives bet changes, round boundaries and game modes. SlotCatalog records 96% RTP, a hit roughly one spin in four, and a 10,000× ceiling. Play it free here — and read the section on persistence, because it changes how you should think about a session.

The Pirots 5 demo runs the real game on play money: the same birds, the same tokens, the same Boss Castle unlock. No download, no account, no deposit.

This is the game on our review list where the demo is least optional. ELK has built something with a progress system layered on top of the slot — nine tokens, three worlds, a collection meter, pending feature releases, grid expansion, gem upgrades — and no description of it substitutes for watching the meter fill. One honest caveat we cannot resolve for you: ELK states that token progress is persistent across bet levels, rounds and modes, but nowhere states whether demo progress carries over to real-money play. Assume it does not, and treat the demo as a way to learn the system rather than to bank a head start.

This demo is part of our ELK Studios demo games library.

ProviderELK StudiosELK Studios publishes a game page for this title but states no RTP, volatility or maximum win on it — the page is a feature description. Every number below therefore comes from SlotCatalog, and we say so each time.

JackpotNoneNo jackpot, fixed or progressive. The coin game and the Boss Castle pay from the paytable; nothing is taken from your stake to fund a pool.

How the game plays

Pirots 5 is a 6×6 grid running ELK’s CollectR mechanic. There are no paylines. Four parrots sit on the board, and on each spin they move across it eating matching symbols; every symbol a bird collects pays, and the position it vacates is refilled. The round continues as long as the birds can keep collecting.

Above the grid sits a meter. It tracks the pay symbols and wilds the four birds have eaten, and when it fills, one pending feature symbol release is banked. Up to three can be stored at once, and they fire when the birds finally run out of things to collect. That is the engine: collect, fill, bank, release, repeat.

SlotCatalog records a hit frequency of 25.1% — roughly one spin in four produces something. For a game with a 10,000× ceiling that is a high rate, and it is the reason the variance reads medium-high rather than the extreme ratings ELK sometimes ships.

The grid expands. The playing area is not fixed at 6×6 throughout; growth is one of the progression layers, and grid size is explicitly carried into the bonus rather than reset at its start. So is the collection meter, and so are gem upgrades. A bonus entered late in a good run is a materially different game from one entered cold.

Every value is a multiple of the total bet. SlotCatalog puts the range at 0.20 to 100 a spin.

The story behind the game

The Pirots series is ELK’s most successful idea in years, and it has run on a roughly annual cadence. The birds started on a straightforward collection grid; by Pirots 4 the studio was layering feature symbols and grid changes on top; Pirots 5 arrived on 23 June 2026 with a wide release a month later on 23 July.

The in-game fiction picks up where the last one left off. Having conquered space, the birds come home, crash into a theme park map, and burn it — revealing the lost city of gold and the whereabouts of Captain Blackfeather, the traitor. A voice at a temple entrance warns of a curse and mummies. They go in anyway.

What makes this release worth attention is not the story. It is that ELK built a meta-game: nine tokens split across three worlds — the Cursed Temple, the Kraken and the City of Gold — and collecting all nine permanently unlocks the Boss Castle. Token progress is global and saved across bet levels, game rounds and game modes.

Very few slots do this. The overwhelming majority are memoryless: every spin starts from the same state and nothing you did yesterday matters. A persistent unlock is closer to how a video game works than how a slot machine does, and whatever else it is, it is a genuinely different proposition from the rest of this month’s releases.

Symbols and paytable

ELK does not publish a symbol paytable for this game, and we are not going to reconstruct one from guesswork. What follows is the mechanical detail the studio does publish on its own page, plus the figures SlotCatalog records — each attributed.

The four parrotsWalk the grid collecting matching symbols. Everything they eat pays. The round continues while they can still collect.
The collection meterTracks pay symbols and wilds eaten by the birds. Filling it banks one pending feature symbol release; up to three can be stored, and they fire when the birds can collect no more.
Collectable tokens — 9 across 3 worldsCursed Temple, The Kraken and City of Gold hold three each. A collected token pays the same as a 5x coin. Within a world all three share a hit frequency; between worlds the rates differ.
Boss CastleCollecting all nine tokens permanently unlocks it. Progress is global and saved across bet levels, rounds and modes. Tokens cannot be collected during the Cursed Temple coin game, and a world stops producing them once its three are taken.
Captain BlackfeatherTurns one to four birds into ghosts and transforms their symbols into Blackfeather gems.
Secret Door and the CatacombsThe secret door rotates the grid, moving every symbol and bird; cross-over floor tiles let birds re-enter collected positions. Landing a symbol on a catacomb corner enters the catacombs, where beating a mummy rewards a feature symbol.
Cursed Temple coin gameTriggered by clearing the entire grid during the secret door feature.
Bonus, Super Bonus and X-iterThree bonus symbols collected by the birds trigger the bonus; if one is a super bonus symbol, the super bonus runs instead. Grid size, meter progress and gem upgrades all carry in. X-iter offers five entry modes from 3× the bet.

What is not published anywhere: the symbol values, the free spins frequency, and the probability of reaching 10,000×. ELK states the ceiling and nothing else; SlotCatalog adds the RTP, variance, hit frequency and build size. For a game this mechanically dense that is a thin public record, and it is the main thing holding the score below the Lane A leaders.

Bonus features and free spins

🦅

Four birds that eat the board

The CollectR mechanic. Birds walk the 6×6 grid consuming matching symbols, every one of which pays, and the round runs as long as they can keep going. Hit frequency 25.1% per SlotCatalog — roughly one spin in four.

🔑

Nine tokens, three worlds, one permanent unlock

Cursed Temple, The Kraken and City of Gold hold three tokens each. All nine permanently unlock the Boss Castle. A token pays as a 5x coin, and once a world’s three are taken it stops producing them.

💾

Progress that survives the session

Token progress is global and saved across bet levels, game rounds and game modes. Almost every slot is memoryless; this one is not. Whether demo progress carries to real money is not stated anywhere — assume it does not.

👑

Captain Blackfeather and the Catacombs

Blackfeather turns one to four birds into ghosts and converts their symbols to his own gems. Landing on a catacomb corner starts a mummy fight, and winning it rewards a feature symbol. The secret door rotates the whole grid.

⏯

A bonus you carry things into

Grid size, collection-meter progress and gem upgrades all persist into the bonus rather than resetting. A round entered after a long build is a different game from one bought cold — which is the honest argument against X-iter’s five buy modes.

What we like

  • A persistent unlock system saved across bet levels, rounds and modes — genuinely rare in a slot, and the reason this release is more than Pirots 4 with new art.
  • 25.1% hit frequency on a game with a 10,000× ceiling. Something happens roughly every fourth spin.
  • Medium-high variance rather than the extreme ratings ELK often ships, which makes it playable on a modest bankroll.
  • Grid size, meter progress and gem upgrades carry into the bonus, so a good run compounds instead of resetting at the door.
  • ELK publishes a detailed, honest feature description on its own page — more mechanical detail than most studios bother with.
What to watch

  • ELK publishes no RTP, no volatility and no maximum-win probability on its own page. Everything except the 10,000× ceiling comes from a database.
  • Certified RTP ranges exist and nobody lists them, so 96% is a best case of unknown spread.
  • Genuinely dense. Nine tokens, three worlds, a meter, pending releases, grid growth, gem upgrades, a rotating door and a mummy fight is a lot to hold at once.
  • Nothing states whether demo progress carries into real-money play, which matters a great deal on a game built around persistent unlocks.
  • X-iter’s buy modes sit awkwardly against the design — buying a bonus skips the build-up that makes the bonus good.

How Pirots 5 compares

Against the other games on our Lane A list, Pirots 5 trades ceiling for frequency. Figures are SlotCatalog’s and BigWinBoard’s as marked:

GameStudioGridHit frequencyMax winVolatility
Pirots 5ELK Studios6 × 6 CollectR25.1%10,000×Med-high
Sweet BonanzaPragmatic Play6 × 5 pay anywherenot published21,100×Med-high
Sugar RushPragmatic Play7 reels, cluster pays1 in 2.9 (34%)5,000×High (5/5)
Golden ShowerNolimit City6 × 5 cluster pays21.1%19,999×High (10/10)

Read the last two columns together. Golden Shower advertises double the ceiling and hits slightly less often, at a volatility rating of ten out of ten — it is built to be survived rather than enjoyed. Sugar Rush hits far more often but tops out at half Pirots 5’s ceiling. Pirots 5 sits between them, and it is the only one of the four where a long session builds something that is still there when you come back.

That last point does not show up in any column, and it is the actual reason to choose this game. Every other slot on the table forgets you between rounds.

Pirots 5 RTP, volatility and max win

Pirots 5 is published at more than one RTP. ELK ships this at more than one certified return level and no public source prints the lower ones. That is worth knowing before you read 96% as a promise rather than a best case.

96%The figure SlotCatalog records, and the only one published anywhere for this game.
Lower certified buildsSlotCatalog flags RTP ranges on this title but does not list the alternatives, and ELK publishes nothing. The in-game information screen is the only source for the build you are on.

SlotCatalog records 96% and flags that this title ships with RTP ranges. ELK Studios’ own page states no RTP at all — it is a feature description with a story attached, and the single number on it is the “potential of 10 000x bet”.

That is a poor public record for a game this prominent, and we would rather say so than paper over it. What it means practically: 96% is the top of a range whose lower steps nobody prints. On the other studios we cover, those ladders typically run one to two points down. Open the information screen inside the game at your casino before you stake money — on this title it is not a nice-to-have, it is the only source that exists.

Volatility. SlotCatalog files it as medium-high, and ELK publishes no rating. The hit frequency supports that reading: 25.1%, roughly one win in four spins. For comparison, Nolimit City’s Golden Shower hits at 21.1% and is rated ten out of ten for volatility; Pirots 5 hits more often and carries half the ceiling. It is not a punishing game by this studio’s standards.

Maximum win. 10,000× the total bet — SlotCatalog records it and ELK states the same figure in its own description, which makes this the one number with two independent sources behind it. Neither publishes a probability for reaching it, so unlike our Pragmatic and Nolimit reviews there is no honest way to tell you how far away it sits. We would rather leave the column empty than fill it with an estimate.

Bets, bankroll and session planning

SlotCatalog puts the range at 0.20 to 100 a spin, and every value — coins, tokens, the ceiling — is a multiple of that total.

Session planning here works differently from every other game on this site, and it is worth thinking about properly. On a normal slot, a session is a self-contained bet: you stake, you spin, you leave, and nothing carries. On Pirots 5 the nine tokens accumulate across rounds and bet levels, so a long run at a low stake builds toward the Boss Castle unlock just as effectively as a short run at a high one. Token progress does not care what you staked when you earned it.

That argues for the opposite of the usual advice. Rather than raising the stake to make a short session interesting, the design rewards staking low and playing long — the unlock is the thing you are accumulating, and it is stake-independent.

X-iter offers five entry modes starting at 3× the bet. The tension is real: grid size, meter progress and gem upgrades carry into the bonus, so a bonus you earned after a long build is worth more than one you bought cold. Paying to skip the build-up means paying to enter the feature in its weakest state. Use the demo to see both before deciding whether the buy is worth money to you.

Playing on mobile

The build is JavaScript and HTML5 at 71.4 MB per SlotCatalog — light for a 2026 release and a third of what Pragmatic’s Gates of Olympus 2500 asks for.

The 6×6 grid is the challenge. Thirty-six positions plus a collection meter, four birds, a token display and an expanding playing area is a lot of state to show at once, and in portrait the meter is the thing you most need to see and the first thing to get squeezed. Landscape is clearly the better orientation here. On the other hand, nothing in this game needs you to trace a payline, which helps more than it sounds.

Five things to know before you spin

  1. Open the information screen before you stake money. ELK publishes no RTP on its own page and SlotCatalog confirms this game has certified ranges it does not list. That screen is the only source.
  2. Token progress is stake-independent. The nine tokens accumulate across bet levels and rounds, so playing long at a low stake builds toward the Boss Castle as effectively as playing big and briefly.
  3. Do not expect demo progress to carry over. ELK states progress is persistent across modes but never says demo and real money share it. Assume they do not.
  4. A bought bonus is a weaker bonus. Grid size, meter progress and gem upgrades carry into the feature. X-iter skips the build that makes the round good — try both in the demo before paying for one.
  5. Watch which world you are working. Each of the three holds three tokens, and once a world’s three are collected it stops producing them. The remaining worlds have different hit rates.

Who this slot is for

This is for the player who wants a slot that remembers them. Nine tokens across three worlds, saved across bet levels and sessions, unlocking a game mode permanently — that is a structure borrowed from video games, and almost nothing else in a casino lobby offers it. If the thing you dislike about slots is that every spin starts from nothing, this is the strongest answer on the market right now.

It is also for a modest bankroll. A 25.1% hit rate and a medium-high rating make this far gentler than the Nolimit and high-variance Pragmatic titles alongside it, and because the token system is stake-independent, playing small and long is a genuinely viable way to get everything out of the game.

It is not for someone who wants to sit down and understand what they are looking at. Four birds, a meter, pending releases, nine tokens, three worlds, a rotating grid, a mummy fight, gem upgrades and five buy modes is a great deal of machinery, and ELK’s own page needs a thousand words to describe it. If that sounds like work rather than fun, Gates of Olympus does tumbling wins with rules you can learn in a minute.

Pirots 5 demo and slot FAQ

Can I play the Pirots 5 demo for free?
Yes — the demo above is the full game on play money, with no account and no deposit. It runs the same 6×6 grid, the same tokens and the same bonus as the real-money version. Demo credits have no cash value.
What is the RTP of Pirots 5?
SlotCatalog records 96% and flags that the game ships with RTP ranges. ELK Studios publishes no RTP on its own game page at all. The lower certified builds are not listed anywhere public, so the information screen inside the game at your casino is the only place your figure is written.
What is the maximum win on Pirots 5?
10,000× your total bet. This is the one figure with two sources: SlotCatalog records it, and ELK states a “potential of 10 000x bet” in its own description. Neither publishes the probability of reaching it.
What are the nine tokens and the Boss Castle?
Nine collectable tokens are split across three worlds — the Cursed Temple, The Kraken and the City of Gold — three in each. Collecting all nine permanently unlocks the Boss Castle game. A collected token pays the same as a 5x coin, and once a world’s three are taken it produces no more.
Does progress carry between sessions?
ELK states that token progress is global and persistent, saved across bet levels, game rounds and game modes. That makes it one of very few slots that is not memoryless. What the studio does not state is whether demo progress carries into real-money play — so assume it does not.
How does the CollectR mechanic work?
Four parrots move across the grid eating matching symbols, and everything they collect pays. A meter above the grid tracks what they have eaten; filling it banks a pending feature symbol release, up to three at a time, which fire when the birds can collect no more.
Is Pirots 5 high volatility?
SlotCatalog files it as medium-high, and ELK publishes no rating. The hit frequency is 25.1% — roughly one spin in four — which is high for a game with a 10,000× ceiling and makes this gentler than most of ELK’s catalogue.

Our verdict on Pirots 5

8.4/ 10

The rare slot that remembers what you did yesterday

Almost every slot ever built is memoryless. You stake, you spin, you leave, and the machine forgets you completely. Pirots 5 does not: nine tokens across three worlds accumulate globally, survive bet changes and session boundaries, and permanently unlock a game mode when complete. That is a structure borrowed from somewhere else entirely, and it turns a long cheap session into something that accrues rather than evaporates — which is a genuinely different offer from anything else on our review list this month. The slot underneath it is good too: a 25.1% hit rate, medium-high variance rather than ELK’s usual punishment, and a bonus you carry grid size, meter progress and gem upgrades into. What holds it back is the paperwork. ELK publishes no RTP, no volatility and no win probability on its own page, SlotCatalog confirms RTP ranges exist without listing them, and nobody will say whether the persistence that defines the game survives the jump from demo to real money. Superb design, documented like an afterthought.
