It runs 96.50% RTP and a hit frequency of 28.41%, a win roughly every 3.5 spins. It is also the best-documented game in the family: free spins land about once in 448 spins, a 1,000× win about once in 45,036, and the maximum once in 2,749,771.

The Gates of Olympus 1000 demo runs the real game on play money: the same 6×5 grid, the same tumbles, the same orbs with the raised cap. No download, no account, no deposit.

Demo it against the published numbers, which is a luxury this game uniquely allows. A free spins round every 448 spins and a 1,000× win every 45,036 are both things you can feel over a long demo session, and feeling them is far more useful than reading them.

VolatilityVery high

Top line pay15,000× total betThree times the 2021 original’s 5,000×. OLBG puts the probability of reaching it at 1 in 2,749,771 spins, which is the sort of number most studios never let anyone calculate.
JackpotNoneNo jackpot, fixed or progressive. Everything comes from the paytable and the orb multipliers.

How the game plays

Six reels, five rows, no paylines. A win is eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid, counted up to thirty. Where they land is irrelevant.

Winning symbols vanish and the rest tumble down with new ones filling from above, so one paid spin can chain through several wins.

Orb multipliers drop at random carrying values that reach 1,000× in this edition, against 500× in the 2021 original. They apply to whichever win completes while they are on screen.

The story behind the game

Gates of Olympus arrived in 2021 and became the most imitated maths model Pragmatic has shipped. This 1000 edition landed on 14 December 2023 as the first sequel, doubling the orb cap and tripling the ceiling.

The family has since gone in two directions: Super Scatter found 50,000× in April 2025 by adding a symbol rather than raising the cap, and Gates of Olympus 2500 pushed the orbs to x2,500 in 2026 for a 25,000× ceiling. This board sits in the middle and remains the one with published odds attached to every outcome.

Symbols and paytable

Scatter-pays throughout, with the orbs carrying the game.

Pay anywhereEight or more matching symbols anywhere on the 6×5 grid, counted up to thirty.
TumblesWinning symbols are removed, the rest fall, new symbols fill the gaps. The chain runs until no new win forms.
Orb multipliersRandom values up to 1,000×, applied to the win that completes.
Zeus scattersFour or more trigger the free spins round.
Free spins multipliersOrb values accumulate across the round without resetting between spins.
Hit frequency28.41% — a win roughly every 3.52 spins.
Free spins frequencyAbout 1 in 448 spins.
Max win probability1 in 2,749,771 spins, per OLBG.

OLBG also calculates that a win of 1,000× your total bet or more arrives about once every 45,036 spins — a far more useful number than the ceiling for anyone deciding whether to play.

Bonus features and free spins

⚡

Scatter pays, eight or more

No lines to learn. Eight matching symbols anywhere pays, thirty is the maximum count, and tumbles mean one spin can produce several wins in sequence.

💎

Orbs to 1,000×

Double the 2021 original’s 500× cap. In the base game they are an occasional bonus; in free spins, where values accumulate, they are the entire game.

🔀

Free spins that never reset

The orb multiplier total carries across the whole round rather than clearing between spins. A round that builds slowly can still finish enormously; one that starts fast and dries up cannot.

📊

Published odds for everything

A 28.41% hit rate, free spins at 1 in 448, a 1,000× win at 1 in 45,036 and the maximum at 1 in 2,749,771. Almost no slot lets you check your expectations against four separate published probabilities.

⚠

Very high volatility, accurately rated

A win every 3.5 spins sounds generous until you notice that the money is concentrated into outcomes measured in tens of thousands of spins. Both things are true, and the rating is honest about it.

What we like

  • The most completely documented game in the family: four separate published probabilities, where most slots offer none.
  • A hit frequency of 28.41% means the base game is rarely silent for long.
  • The accumulating free-spins multiplier remains the best rule Pragmatic has written — nothing you build is taken away mid-round.
  • 96.50% on the default build is a competitive figure for a very high volatility game.
  • 15,000× is a real step up from the original’s 5,000×, and reached through a mechanic you can watch rather than a lottery symbol.
What to watch

  • Three builds spanning two full points — 96.50%, 95.51% and 94.50% — and the casino chooses.
  • Free spins at 1 in 448 spins is rare, and the accumulating multiplier that makes the game worth playing only exists inside them.
  • The ceiling is a 1 in 2.7 million event. Useful to know, sobering to read.
  • The name misleads in the same way the rest of the family’s does: 1000 is the orb cap, not the maximum win.
  • Four boards in this family now sit within a few percentage points of each other, and choosing between them is a genuine chore.

How Gates of Olympus 1000 compares

The Gates of Olympus family side by side, which is the comparison most people actually want.

Sweet Bonanza 1000Jun 20241,000×25,000×96.53—

Look at Super Scatter: the same 500× orb cap as the 2021 original, and a ceiling more than three times this board’s. The orb cap and the maximum win are separate levers, and this family is the clearest demonstration of that anywhere.

Gates of Olympus 1000 RTP, volatility and max win

Gates of Olympus 1000 is published at more than one RTP. Three certified builds spanning two full percentage points, chosen by the casino. The reels, the orb cap and the 15,000× ceiling are identical across all three, and nothing on screen tells you which one you are on. The information screen inside the game does.

96.50%The default build, and the figure on Pragmatic’s page.
95.51%A middle build. One full point removed.
94.50%The lowest build in circulation, two points below the default.

96.50% is Pragmatic’s published default and the top of three certified builds. The others are 95.51% and 94.50% — two full points between best and worst, chosen by the casino and invisible on screen.

Pair that with the published odds and this becomes one of the few games where you can reason properly about what you are buying. At 96.50% with a 1 in 448 bonus and a 1 in 2.7 million ceiling, you know what the session looks like. At 94.50% the same session costs you two points more per spin and nothing else changes.

Bets, bankroll and session planning

Stakes run from £0.20 upward. On a very high volatility board where free spins arrive roughly once in 448 spins, the base game is where almost all of your money passes through — and the stake is the only lever on how long that takes.

Playing on mobile

Six reels by five rows is a lot of grid for a phone, and Pragmatic’s approach across this family is consistent: the board fills the width, the orbs scale with it, and the accumulating multiplier total stays visible throughout free spins. That last detail is the one that had to work, and it does.

Five things to know before you spin

  1. Use the 1,000×-win frequency, not the ceiling. OLBG calculates a 1,000× win about once every 45,036 spins and the maximum once in 2,749,771. The first is a thing that might happen to you; the second is not.
  2. Check your build before staking. Three versions run 96.50%, 95.51% and 94.50%. Two points on a game where you will put thousands of spins through the base game is a large amount of money.
  3. Judge a free spins round by the multiplier total. Orb values accumulate without resetting, so a slow start can still finish well. A fast start that dries up cannot.
  4. Know what the 1000 means. It is the orb cap, not the maximum win. The ceiling is 15,000×, and Super Scatter reaches 50,000× on half this orb cap.
  5. Budget for 1 in 448. That is the free spins frequency, and the accumulating multiplier that makes this game worth playing exists only inside the feature.

96.50% on the default build, with 95.51% and 94.50% versions also in circulation. The casino chooses — check the game’s information screen.

The orb multiplier cap, which doubled from 500× in the original. It is not the maximum win, which is 15,000×.

Four or more Zeus scatters trigger the round, and the orb multiplier values accumulate across the whole of it without resetting between spins.

Our verdict on Gates of Olympus 1000

8.5/ 10

The one board in the family whose odds you can actually check

Pragmatic has now shipped four Gates of Olympus boards within a few percentage points of each other, and the honest way to choose between them is on information rather than headline numbers. On that basis this is the pick: a 28.41% hit rate, free spins at 1 in 448, a 1,000× win at 1 in 45,036 and the ceiling at 1 in 2,749,771.

The game itself is the family at its most balanced. Orbs doubled to 1,000×, a ceiling tripled to 15,000×, and the accumulating free-spins multiplier that remains the best rule in the series.

The caveats are the family’s standard ones: three builds spanning two points, a rare feature, and a name that describes the multiplier rather than the win. None of them is hidden, which is rather the point.
